Group of teaching and research institutions, museums, diving associations supporting the goals of the International Year of the Reef to strengthen awareness about the value of, and threats to, coral reefs and associated ecosystems by organizing and hosting events, providing teaching materials, as well as contacts for lectures in the wider public, schools, etc.

A kick-off IYOR event was held on 22nd March at the German Oceanographic Museum. Prof Dr. Christian Wild from the University of Bremen presented “Corals, sponges, algae, bacteria – who’s controlling life on coral reefs?”
