‘Net my reef’ is a project created by Pala Dalik, the Mont dore high-school and the Plum college, to raise awareness about the Caledonian reefs. The project was born from an underwater photo exhibit by marine photographer Martin Ravanat, then based on these photos the students were asked a series of questions. The students then had to write a thorough description, including key morphological features of a species, their ecological role in the ecosystem, or any cultural or artistic aspects of the ecosystem, or marine animal depicted in a particular photo.
These descriptions are being produced as part of this on-going from April-December 2018, and will be exhibited at the Mont Dore high-school and the Plum secondary school. Following this Pala Dalik will introduce the students to the coral reef monitoring techniques (Coral Reef Network Observation or RORC in French), during a trip to the Laregnère reef on October 8th.
