
In support of the International Year of the Reef the Administration, Union Territory of Lakshadweep is organizing an International Conference on Status and Protection of Coral Reefs-2018 in collaboration with the Zoological Survey of India. The theme of which will be ‘Reef for Life’.
About 150 delegates both International and National, are participating in this mega event at Bangaram Island from 22nd to 24th October 2018. The delegates and keynote speakers for technical deliberations come from United State of America, United Kingdom, Kuwait, Italy, France, Maldives and Sri Lanka.
This is the 3rd STAPCOR event following those in 1998, and 2008 in celebration and support of the International Year of the Reef. A call for abstracts and posters was issued in early September, to encourage those working in the field of coral reef biology/management to come and share their work.
STAPCOR will promote partnerships between governments, academia, civil society and the private sector to encourage the sharing of information and best practices for the future of sustainable coral reef management.
