On the occasion of the World Oceans Day, the Aquarium of Paris presents a unique program of ocean conservation with the collaboration of its partners: An Ocean of Life, Coral Guardian, Tara Oceans and Bernard Séret, Ichthyologist and member Scientific Council of the Aquarium of Paris.
Day of events
11:00am An Ocean of Life: Coastlines and ocean pollution, 1 hour.
Screening excerpts of Jacques Perrin’s “Oceans” and “Ocean of Life” documentaries, to tackle the theme of pollution among the young generation. Children are invited to ask questions, to learn and discover how to protect the marine world.
1:30pm: Tara Expeditions Foundation: Major scientific expeditions, 1h.
The Tara expedition team will present their projects of scientific research, highlighting their latest expedition, Tara Paci as 2016-2018 on the knowledge and protection of coral reefs. The science ship Tara travels all over the world studying the impact of climate change and pollution on marine biodiversity. At the heart of Tara expeditions, sailors and scientists collaborate to collect valuable data for the future of the ocean.
3:30pm: Coral Guardian: Discover the coral, 1h.
In an interactive quiz, Coral Guardian teams will highlight the need and urgency to conserve corals. An exchange that will end with a live workshop. Coral Guardian aims to promote innovative approaches to marine conservation and encourage models of sustainable development.
4:00pm: The world of sharks and its secrets, conference led by Bernard Séret (Biologist Oceanographer, Ichthyologist member of the Scientific Council of the Aquarium of Paris), 1h. For all
Discovering the world of sharks, their importance in marine ecosystems, the myths and reality around sharks, observation and manipulation of teeth, fins, eggs and skins of sharks.
Le 8 juin, Coral Guardian participera à l’événement organisé à l’Aquarium de Paris pour la Journée mondiale des Océans. A 15h, lors d’un quiz interactif, nos équipes mettront en avant la
nécessité et l’urgence de préserver les coraux. Un échange qui se terminera par un atelier de
bouturage en direct des bassins.
