On the occasion of the International Year of the Coral Reef, the Foundation for Research on Biodiversity (FRB), the Oceanographic Institute, Centre for Island Research and Environmental Observatory (CRIOBE) and the Ocean-Climate Platform are organising a conference to transfer the latest scientific knowledge to the stakeholders and an evening open to the general public.
This event will firstly provide an update on the services provided by corals and their ecosystems as well as their condition, their health and the threats they face. Then, two round table discussions will bring together scientists, managers and civil society actors to discuss: the mobilisation and necessary adaptation of governance to put in place new tools for a better protection of spaces and species, and to limit direct or indirect anthropic pressures, on the latest scientific knowledge on the functioning of coral reefs and innovative management solutions to develop them at larger scales.
In the evening, these experts will share their knowledge with the public after screening the film Chasing Coral, directed by Jeff Orlowsky and produced by The Ocean Agency.
Together, thanks to knowledge, we can develop solutions for tomorrow.
