The Coastal Oceans Research and Development in the Indian Ocean (CORDIO)based in Kenya is a research and conservation organisation.
In order to commemorate the International Year of the Reef 2018 and celebrate CORDIO’s 20th anniversary, they have organised a screening of the Netflix documentary Chasing Corals followed by a Q&A with a panel of experts, including local coral reef scientists, managers and government officials..
The aim of the event is to:
1.Strengthen awareness about the value of, and threats to, coral reefs and their associated ecosystems;
2.Promote partnerships between government, the private sector and civil society on the management of coral reefs and the general marine environment
